More snow, less light

SNOW

Friday night:

I head out to a concert, just as I’m going inside it’s starts to very lightly snow. The first snow I’ve ever seen in Sweden. Brilliant, I think.

That was about 11pm. At 4am I get outside and the snow, while by Swedish standards still fairly light, is a lot heavier than when I went inside. Still brilliant, I’m thinking.

Unfortunately, I’d chosen that night to forget to wear my big winter (fake) fur coat. I’ve been living in this thing lately, but I was in such a rush to get to the concert I ran out the door wearing nothing but a long sleeve T and a suit jacket. Not exactly winter wear.

To add to it, the snow was very wet (almost the same as being in the rain) plus the bus for the second half of my journey home was no longer running.

So there I was, freezing cold, wearing hardly anything, running through the dark, empty streets of Stockholm trying to get home. And then all of a sudden I gave up. Stopped worrying about the fact I was freezing cold and simply stood there enjyoying my first snow of the year.

Saturday night:

Daylight Saving finishes at 2am Sunday morning. The clock’s gone back an hour and it’s getting dark just after 4pm… mental.
