Adventures in Åland

There’s been ads all over the Stockholm metro for this little chain of islands between Sweden and Finland.

The headline in the ads is Som Sommaren Var Förr (something along the lines of “Like Summer Used To Be”).

Add to that the excitement with which the Anderssons speak every time they mention their homeland (it’s not actually a country, it falls under Finland, but it’s kinda semi-autonomous..) and I was getting pretty excited to head over and check it out.

Spent three days out at Andreas, Martin and Tove’s summer house. It’s this beautiful little house down by a secluded oceany-lake out in the sticks.

I spent more time in those three days than my previous 12 months in Sweden combined.

The most relaxing setting imaginable. Combine that with great wine, great food, and some bloody great company, and it becomes one hell of a way to enjoy the Scandinavian Summer…
